Our Leadership
Dr. Hunter King
Founder & CEO
Dr. Hunter King is the founder of Integrative Nanotech. He holds a bachelor's and master's degree in mechanical engineering from Dalhousie University where he developed lab-on-chip MEMS-based sensor platforms. Following his work at Dalhousie he moved to Germany in 2016 to continue his work focusing on materials development for sensing applications. He worked as a project lead at Fraunhofer IST developing silicon materials for MEMS and sensing applications.
Dr. King has extensive experience in system development, process simulation and digitization, and AI-based data analytics. After completing his PhD from Technische Universität Braunschweig, he continued as head of sensor development in the CVD group at Fraunhofer IST before founding Integrative Nanotech in 2022.
Dr. Michael Freund
CTO
Dr. Michael Freund is a professor of chemistry and Director of the Clean Technologies Research Institute at Dalhousie University. He has raised over $40M in federal and regional funding, has been issued 28 U.S. and 15 international patents. He has also held a Tier 1 Canadian Research Chair in Electronic Materials at University of Manitoba.
Dr. Freund’s pioneering research into sensor arrays and machine olfaction has resulted in major research programs at Caltech and JPL with technology deployed on the space shuttle (STS-95) and three expeditions to the International Space Station. Dr. Freund has extensive experience in the development of automated sensor testing and control systems, and the use of AI and statistical methods for software-based sensor optimization.
